ATTENTION: Federal Council invokes the safeguard clause for citizens of Bulgaria and Romania
From 1 June 2017 the quota of EU / EFTA B permits (five-year residence permits) will be restored for Bulgarian and Romanian citizens. The limitation will be valid for one year. The quota applies to Bulgarian and Romanian citizens who intend to take up employment in Switzerland by virtue of an employment contract lasting one year or more or indefinitely and who apply for a B permit for this purpose, as well as people who settle in our Country to carry out an independent gainful activity there. Further information on the safeguard clause will be available from 1 June 2017 on the page of the State Secretariat for Migration SEM: EU / EFTA citizens and citizens: living and working in Switzerland . Under the provisions to which citizens from EU / EFTA member states (excluding Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania) are subject, you need a valid residence permit for a stay of more than three months. For the request, contact the control of the inhabitants of your municipality of residence within 14 days of the move and before starting the activity by presenting a valid identity card and an employment contract or a certificate of employment.
